Expat Bulgaria Newby

spacelizard68

Hello Everyone:

My name is Jeanne.  I am a 50+ semi-retired USA citizen.  My husband and our two minor children are hoping to relocate to Bulgaria under the D Visa.  My husband has been fully retired from work since early 2020 and he is fortunate enough to have a generous pension from the state of Arizona, which should easily qualify for the D Visa for pensioners.  We had originally started our research in early 2018 and as most, got stalled and delayed due to Covid.  We feel that next year, 2025, is a good time to be in Bulgaria.

Hi Jeanne! I sounds as if you have a solid plan. I hope it works out for you. Yes, Covid derailed a lot of plans.

What area of Bulgaria do you intend to settle in?

I think I speak for the whole forum when I say that we would love to see more Space Lizards in Bulgaria! :-)

Welcome Jeanne, you've made a good choice moving to Bulgaria!  I've been here just over three and half years now and absolutely love to it here.  It's the perfect country for retirement!

Good for you.

Bulgaria is a lovely country.  I think more and more people are moving to Bulgaria.

Just take a walk in downtown  Sofia and you will hear  different

languages everywhere.  The world has discovered Bulgaria...

Thank you all for your warm welcomes :)

Gwyn, I do sometimes wonder if Bulgaria is ready for space lizards, with cute little billowing capes blowing in the wind.

JaneMulberry - we are still so excited that we have not pinned it down, Plovdiv, Bansko and Varna/Burgas all seem great for different reasons.  I love the outdoors so Bansko seems great for the warmer months and wintertime with no one around in Sunny Beach sounds ideal to me but I do love some snow in the winter too. I suppose some of the adventure is in figuring it all out right? :)

Thank you cybersecure and TonyFF for the words of encouragement.  I am sure you all understand about the strange, blank stares we get from family and friends back here in the states when we tell of our plans.
