Moving to malta

Natalie89

Hello everyone

I am wanting to move to Malta with my family, I have been going for years and also had moved over in 2015 for 9 weeks because I just done it so wrong, I just want to know what’s the best area to live especially with having a 8-7 and 1 year old boys, also I have had quotes to move my stuff and it’s £4050 I only want to bring 3 tv’s 2 Xbox and about 20 boxes is there a cheaper way of doing this??

Much appreciated thank you

Welcome to the Forum, that seems a very high quote have you looked at previous comments on the topic of moving here and the costs of bringing things over? Good luck.

I wouldn't bother bringing electrical items as you can easily buy them here and if you sell them in the UK and avoid shipping you will have enough to buy new. When i came 3 years ago I had just 2 suitcases and enough for 1st months rent.
Now I write blogs which amongst other more personal things contains info on how and what to do to get here.
I now have a great house which I've just put on Airbnb and Booking .com
Enjoy Malta but Gozo is way better (and cheaper).

Thanks for the advice I couldn’t live in Gozo it’s not for me, what is child care like? Is it worth me working to pay child care

Buy heavy duty corrugated pallet boxes complete with pallets from a packaging agent in the UK and ship them using  'MaltPost Send On'  or a similar shipping company. Standard sizes are approx. 120 x 100 x 100cms or 100 x 80 x 80cms. you can get various sizes and you would probably only need 2 or 3 . Should be able to do it for well under £1000 (dependent on weight as well as volume). You can stretch wrap them and would be best to strap them as well.
We shipped 4 large ones for £800 6 years ago.

If I was to live on Malta that is one place I would choose, it’s popular with expats.  Whenever we are in Malta we like to go to the new Valyou supermarket.

I would like to ask about volunteer opportunities. My husband can support us. He is there already. The children and I will be joining him after school is out. I feel I can’t just sit around all day. I’m open to suggestions, but would pick one that involved other adults over being alone or with children
