Visa D for foreigners

Hi,

My GF is a Canadian citizen, but we are currently in Burgas, Bulgaria. We want to stay here for more than 3 months so I looked into the possible ways to achieve that but everything seems quite difficult to understand even for a Bulgarian citizen(me). Is there no other option than type D? Did someone successfully manage to get an extension? We need at least another 3 months extension because we're already 1 month into our 3 months.

Honestly this seems quite difficult for a country where people don't earn that much x]. I heard there is also some border hopping or possibilities for that? I really don't want us to go back to Canada during this pandemic.

If you are far away from that decision, you can call the Bulgarian Embassy to see the possibilities of extention during this pandemic times.

HI, thanks, not entirely far but at this point it would seem like this is the main reason for the marriage which wouldn't be that memorable for both of us
