I'm from Byala Varna and Samokov  so only know chirpan from the turn off on the motorway to Byala .. I think there is a small ski resort there but never been .. your houses were still standing then ,? 

Chirpan is just off the A1 motorway between Plovdiv and Stara Zagora... So no skiing. :-) I've driven through both villages mentioned, they are near the Sredna Gora hills.

hi dawn yes i know opalchenets our first house was brought there in 2006 and moved there in 2013 when we retired it was a strong village where most people worked but there was a lot of gypsys there some not trustworthy the children, we moved to burgas area 2015 just doing 2yrs full time if i had my time over i would not have brought in opalchenets as burgas where we live is a better area and more pleasant people we were the only english people there i often wondered why but our neighbours were fantastic and we had 2 bulgarian real friends who came back from canada as there father had just died we told them we were thinking of moving to burgas and the wife said why did we make friends then we thought they would come to visit us but glad they did not it was a good move we made
