An old German superstition says that you should never congratulate (or celebrate) a birthday in advance - something bad would happen to the birthday boy/girl between then and the actual birthday!

BTW Your birthday is also on Independence Day for Tanzania (where I lived for several years).
There they call it "Saba Saba", i.e. "7 7".
