Well ... Most Paraguayan like and treat foreigners very well. My wife and my younger son don't speak the language, basically my wife talks to them in English and it is amazing how she gets around. The integration process is very easy, what is no easy is to adapt to their way of life.
The following are what Paraguayans do that we don't:
Time is irrelevant; majority are never on time on any event.
Will come to your place without letting you know their are coming.
Will tell you what you will like to hear and then after, they forget or they do something else.
Will always think that you are economically well off; therefore, find out prices before you ask someone to do something for you.
As soon as they say hello to you, they are already your friend.
When they drive an automobile, are a different person ... Beware.
Planning ahead is not something that they understand.
I understand that Paraguayans will be very much against of what I'm stating here but I born in Asuncion, PY and I know the people very well. The main thing as a foreigner in PY is to have your own group and this is what you need to focus. Paraguayans will make you feel at home but you will enjoy it much better if you have a group that you are comfortable with.
