Visa Help urgent!

vanesty

Im planning on travelling to Brazil on 6th november and to extend my trip by 90 days when im there so that I can stay longer.

I just have a question. I travelled to Brazil 8 December 2011 until January 4 2012...

Will this affect the amount of time i can stay in brazil this time...If I travel on 6th November 2012  When should I buy a return for - 6th may 2013 would be 6 months if i dont need to take into consideration the previous time spent in Brazil..

I am so confused by the visa website and other websites - if someone could explain that would be great. Thanks in Advance...

Yes, your previous stay will reduce the number of days that you can remain in the country this trip. You will be allowed your 90 day stay, but you will only be allowed to extend your visit for about another 60 days. I haven't looked at the calendar and actually counted the number of days you were here Dec-Jan. They count the day of arrival and day of departure as full days when making the calculation, so is you count all those days then you subtract that number from 90 to get the number of additional days you may extend your stay.

hi
thanks for your reply

so even though it is outside the 365 day period it will still count?! I mean when I apply for the extension...

Thanks

James

It is based on a "rolling" year not on the calendar year. They go back 365 days from the date of your arrival to make the calculation. If you, for example, stay all 180 days in a year then you must wait 180 days just to get back to zero, then a further 180 days to build back up to the full entitlement. You get one day for each day following the "zero" date. Hope you understand the complicated way they do the calculations.

You do not earn any days while you are actually here in Brazil. (only outside the country)

so if i buy a return for the 6 may would a way to get round that be to just visit argentina for a few weeks - or hope they dont ask to see my return ticket when I go to extend the 90 days...

Im assuming it wont be a problem at the airport here in the uk at the bag drop that my ticket will be for exactly 6 months later, and not 3!

James

Not a chance.... they will certainly ask for your return ticket on arrival in Brazil. Sorry to tell you that.
