How Long Did It Take to Get Your CRNM? Recent Data Points Please!

Latam Expat

Hi all. There's a wealth of information on how to get any number of processes done in Brazil on this forum, including applying for residency, for instance on the basis of family reunion. However, how long this application is currently taking has only scattered anecdotal data points across multiple threads, making it difficult to get a clear understanding of the timeline today.

I propose we use this thread to document, with the help of those of us who have recently applied for a Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório (CRNM) how long this process is currently taking, perhaps using the following format:

i.Applied for CRNM Online: July 4, 2025 (*ALL DATES ARE FICTIONAL FOR EXAMPLE PURPOSES ONLY*)

ii.PF Visit Scheduled For: Aug 4, 2025

iii.CRNM Approval Date: Sept 4, 2025

iv. Total application time: 2 months.

v.Location: Sao Paulo, SP (please try to include the location when possible as processing times will vary widely from city to city and so the fact that your residency took 2 months in Sao Paulo would be completely meaningless to someone applying in Fortaleza or Floripa, for instance).

vi. Notes: Add anything here that someone reading your case might need to know. For instance, did PF request additional documents that definitely or possibly increased the total application time?

Hoping we can some good, ongoing data points here that could help anyone planning on applying for a CRNM.

Cheers!

Hello,

I don't know if there are any official current delays.

I had my residency approved on 28/7/25 and the SISMIGRA website updated that on the same day.

On 1/8/25 it change to 'Your document has been sent for printing' and hasn't updated since.

A friend of mine had his residence renewed at the PF on 26/6/25 and I believe he still doesn't have his card yet.

Both dealing with the São Paulo office.

Regards,
