Digital Nomad visa

ltoby955

Just looking at this and I have two questions first you need to prove your work digitally for a company outside of Brazil, what if you are self-employed so effectively the owner, how do you prove that? The second question is whether the income required is 1500 us or equivalent this is way lower than the 2,000 us for Pension visas etc. Many thanks

If I were a freelance teacher, I'd draw up a document saying that, stating how long I'd been doing it, what countries my students live in (none can be in Brazil), and have it notarized.

Yes, $1500 US, presumably from digital nomad work,  and at least $18.000 US in the bank or, I imagine, in investments.  Rio summarizes the requirements here in English:

@abthree Hi that's great about the idea of a notaria, I have operated this since 2012 after my retirement and all of my students are in Europe. I just thought it crazy to the money 1500 per month compared to 2000 for the other visas.

Many thanks

I think that there may be an assumption on the part of the people making immigration decisions at the highest level that digital nomads will be younger, healthier, and stay for a shorter time, and so represent less risk of consuming Brazilian resources over time.  As I've written elsewhere, the current retirement visa is far less welcoming than the previous one was, not that the digital nomad visa is particularly welcoming, either.

@abthree But is that the case with health as you need private healthcare here as an applicant?

It's time for first Digital Nomad Visa renewals :) That's the information that I am missing - what is the time window for renewing the visa?, and is it counted "backward" from the CRM validity date?

The above link is the portaria, that's all it says about the renewals? the Art6 :

Art. 6º O prazo de residência poderá ser renovado, por igual período, desde que apresentados os documentos previstos:

I - nos incisos IV, VII e VIII do art. 4º desta Resolução;

II - cópia da Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório (CRNM); e

III - certidões de antecedentes criminais ou documento equivalente, emitido pela autoridade judicial competente de onde tenha residido durante a autorização de residência de temporária.

03/02/23 @zofiaaa.  Yes, you should renew your CRNM shortly before its expiration date.  You can download both your Brazilian federal and state criminal background checks from the competent authorities online.

Thanks @abthree but

the visa itself needs to be renewed by Ministério da Justiça and only once that is approved, I can apply for my CRNM renovation @ PF

As per the document here:

5. Renovação da residência

O nômade digital registrado no Brasil poderá, antes do vencimento

de seu prazo de residência, solicitar a renovação de autorização de

residência por igual período - no Sistema MigranteWeb

Só I am trying to understand how to plan those timelines as there is more than "just" CRNM renovation.

(Are you by any chance here on a permanent visa? Those renovations are handled differently then temp visas, like Vitem V/Work or Digital Nomad

abthree

03/01/23 @zofiaaa.  The PF is part of the Ministry of Justice.  You should apply to  renew your Authorization of Residence on MigranteWeb.  The PF will take care of that and reissue your CRNM as part of the same process.
