Moving Next Week to Istanbul! Looking apartment, advice, and friends :

Hi all. I'm moving next weekend to Istanbul. First time ever in Turkey. I'm planning to study there. Very excited! First I need to find a studio apartment. Looking for advice on where the best areas to live are (so far according to my research I think it's Taksim or some nice area in European side) + what are the average prices for this area...

Taksim is the business district actually and it currently undergoes a tunnel construction, the traffic gets horrible. There are no appartements there...The closest to Taksim is Cihangir but the prices are getting more and more expensive these days. The smallest appartement would have a 2000 TL rent, which is about 1100 USD. If you'd like to be close to Taksim, Sisli, Besiktas or Galata have lower rents usually...
