REQS for where to live for 3 months in Istanbul

Phaedrus157

Hello fellow expats,

We are seeking information as to recommendations as to where to stay for a 3 months stay in Istanbul; outside Schengen area to renew our 90 days in Greece. Retired, married couple, slow travelers. We are used to walking 5mi or more daily. We would like to find some recs as to neighborhoods which would allow access to the various usual stuff to do in Istanbul, mostly museums. No interest in nightlife at all. We usually prefer a location just outside the main city that is on a good public transport system. We have enjoyed staying in downtown locations previously but sometimes the noise and crowds can be overwhelming when you are there for a long time. We prefer a walkable neighborhood where we can walk to the local market.

We are interested in doing some traveling to some of the more interesting places in Turkey but the first step is to get ourselves settled then we can ask other questions at a later date.

Thank you so much and look forward to getting info but also providing info since we have already been in a variety of countries. I have lived in the Philippines, Colombia, Kenya, Greece, Iceland. I have also travelled for short periods in England, Italy, Spain, Portugal.

Thanks,

Phae Drus

hello

MUFIDOO

I think the Asian side of Istanbul will suite you. we are retired couple too and your life style is a similar to ours. we live i Suadiye, also Erenkoy, Cadde bostan, Goztepe are a good alternatives. all these areas has an excellent public transport, near strand where you enjoy walking, near daily goods markets and very safe. Good luck.
