Credit cards for expats - Bahrain

AtillaSencan

Hello everyone,

I moved to Bahrain 2 months ago. I applied for a credit card in Ahli United, but they informed me that they issue credit cards to expats after they finish 2 years with their employer. Since the same procedure was much easier in Qatar - I got my credit card directly after my first salary - I was wondering if there is any expat-friendlier bank in Bahrain, which would be able to issue me a credit card earlier? Thank you in advance for your advice and have a great day!

I think it is an Ahli bank issue and maybe also linked to the company you work in and your salary.  As an example, I got my card from HSBC even before I got my first salary.

Try other banks - no such thing as expat friendly.  They are businesses and want to make money from everyone :).

Ahli United didnt  ask for my papers, they directly informed me on phone that eighter my company has to be on their list, which is not the case, or I have to reside in Bahrain for at least for 2 years in order to apply. As another option they offered me to deposit the amount which will be my actual credit card limit.

So will try with HSBC as per your suggestion as well as with the banks my company works with. Thank you once again!
