Considering Algarve, Portugal....

Expat1012

While searching around the world for a place to retire (or semi-retire) Portugal continues to come across my radar.  The cost of living remains a little unclear; can anyone respond with thoughts on rent, food, utilities, health care, transportation options, entertainment......    the ambiance of Algarve, do locals like expats?

Thoughts?

Depends on what you expect as a lifestyle against your current level.
You don't say where you're currently located so it's a little difficult to offer a view.
One thing though, I've found the Portuguese to be among the friendliest to Brit-expats - despite the annual outrageous behaviour of summer-time drunken Brit-louts.

Seeking advice about positives experiences from expats who have retired to The Algarve. My husband and I are currently living in Italy - he is an Australian/Italian citizen and I am an Australian citizen.

We are now seriously looking at moving to Portugal as retirees very shortly. While we are gathering as much information as possible, and a lot is very similar to what we had to do when we moved to Italy, we have also read about to be careful who we use for legal assistance to make the transition as painless as possible and avoid scammers.

Is there anyone who could advise of a good reputable legal firm in The Argarve who we can make contact with?

Thank you!

Carolyn
