Changing appointments with AIMA- is it possible?

apo.morti

Hi all,

I have an appointment with AIMA to change my address on my residency card due to a recent move. However, I cannot attend on the scheduled date and would like to cancel the appointment.  How do I cancel an appointment?

Is it necessary for me to go in person to change my address, or I could simply submit an "Atestado" from the Juntas de Fragresias instead?  I currently do not have a lease.

Thank you in advance.

@apo.morti,

The change of address requires an appointment and is done in person or online(*).  For non-EU citizens who have a residence permit, these changes are made at AIMA.

" Atestado de morada da Junta de Freguesia " is for EU citizens.

You have this information, but I don't know if it will be useful since you don't have an address yet.

It's best to enquire at AIMA, either by phone or in one of their reception centres.

(*) AIMA has recently launched an online contact form where you can submit requests, including changes to personal data. While it's primarily for requesting changes, it might also be a channel to inform them of a cancellation (... ?? Not sure about that)

Access the form here:

Select one of these in combo box "Tipo de assunto"

"Alteração de dados (sem necessidade de agendamento)"

Or

"Alteração de dados (para atendimento presencial)"

Then select combo box "subtipo de assunto".

Please, write here in english.

It's important to clarify one point: if your French identity card has expired and you've been living in Portugal for 7 years, you won't get a “Portuguese identity card” (Cartão de Cidadão) directly as a foreign citizen, unless you've acquired Portuguese nationality, ok? French identity card expired is renewed in France, or at a french embassy, not at AIMA...

What you are probably looking for is a residence permit for EU citizens after 5 years of CRUE card (Título de Residência), which is the official document proving your legal residence in Portugal and which serves as your identity on Portuguese territory as a foreign citizen.
