VFS/D7 Visa Application and the "2D bar code'

northernlites

Greetings

I have been unable to find anything on this in the forum so apologies if I am repeating.

In the instructions for what to take to the meeting is says quite clearly to bring 2 copies of the paper with the 2d bar code. We had no idea what this was but have done some digging and it seems that some online documents generate such a code when you complete them online and download them. However, this form does not - it's a simple PDF. I've tried on various browsers on Mac and PC - no luck.

So I am wondering if that should actually not be included in the Portuguese instructions but they have just left it there? Does anyone know anything about this?

Many thanks

@northernlites The Miami VFS site stated that the applicant had to print out two copies of the 2D bar code "separator" sheets. I think there were about 12 of them. You have to hunt around on the site to find out where they are and print them out. I was confused about what these were for. One of the sheets was I think "Tuberculosis" test. I could only find 3 that were applicable to my situation (D7 visa): Accommodation,  Financial Evidence, and Non-Essential Documents. My attorney told me to organize my documents according to the checklist posted on the VFS site and insert those three separator sheets in the applicable places in the stack of documents. When I was at my VFS appointment, the very polite VFS official asked me why I did that!!! I told him those were the instructions on the VFS site! He said he thought those divider sheets were only for applications for The Netherlands!! (And why two sets of separator sheets? Who knows!)

At the time I applied, you had to go to the VFS appointment with a round-tip ticket to Portugal already purchased. That was not clear in the document list at the time.

The documents you have to supply depend on your situation and the type of visa for which you are applying.

@wordsmith555 Thanks for that! I'm in the UK which may make a difference I suppose but I will look and see if I can find these 'separator sheets'. If anyone in UK has such experience I'd love to hear.

Does sound a bit like they may not be relevant and the mention of them is a red herring.
