How to organize the papers for the Consulate Interview

mariacmorenovarela

Hello, I was wondering If there is an specific way to present the documents, can I use sticky notes? Cover letter? Paper clips? Envelopes? Any specific order? Do I need to make copies?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! First email VFS Global and ask for the most current version of the checklist. Then layer the items beginning with #1. Don't include paper clips or notes. You can staple bank statements together if you have more than one. Make copies of everything, including the emails with VFS Global.

@Erica K63 thanks!

I have my VFS appt May 15 in DC. I was told NOT to staple any papers. You decide.

@marybrozik Please let us know how your appointment went! Mine is June 7 and my son June 6 at the same Consulate, traveling from Miami so I need to be prepared with all what we need because it's not cheap going there! Thank you and good luck!

We just completed our VFS visit in Washington, DC.  It is like going to the DMV, literally.  Everything went smoothly.  I had organized our binder based on the checklist and as the VFS representative asked for a doc I could easily provide it.  I used dividers in the binder to correspond to the checklist. You will not need plane tickets for your travel to Portugal, at least not at the DC VFS.  Now we wait, supposedly 60 days.

Do not go too early, as you can not enter until 15 minutes prior to your appointment.  If there are two of you only one of you will process for both of you, but you both need to be present.  Make sure you have a money order or cashier's check for the $98.50 fee  one for each of you.  You cannot pay this fee with credit or bank card.  Those are all the tidbits I can provide.

@Laura Hamke thank you! I just bought the tickets yesterday ughhhhh. Did they ask you any question? Can I pay the fees with cash? Thank you so much!
