Offered a job in Netherlands. Visa questions

mettadog

Hello.
I was just offered my dream job in the Netherlands but i am worried about the visa situation, as my husband is also American and would need to find a job. I need to accept/decline by Monday. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

1) How long will it take to obtain a visa for me?
2) What type of visa should my husband apply for if he will need to look for work?
3) Will he be able to look for work in the Netherlands when we move there?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

To answer your questions:

How long - the system will tell you 90 days.  If it's a skilled migrant visa, it can be much shorter than this (7 > 14 days); if it is this type of visa, then come back and I can go into a bit more detail.
Type of visa for husband - Residence Permit ().
Can he work - as long as yours is not a student/study visa - yes.

Hope this helps.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. It is a researcher Post doc visa, not the blue highly skilled visa.
I am wondering if he can come with me as my  husband and then look for work there or does he need to find a job before he arrives in the Netherlands?
Thanks

Hi again.

That would be the easiest way, the link I gave you was for that option.

Hope this helps.
