Tax return - resident permit holder or permanent resident?

Hello guys,

could you please advise for the income tax return purposes how I can determine whether I am a resident permit holder in Malta or a permanent resident?

you are only a permanent resident if you applied for such. Almost certainly you are not.

What status is shown on your eResidence card ?

On the I.D. card it says Type of permit: xxx. No idea what it means.

Hello Jitka,

As an EU national, you must have lived legally in another EU country for at least five years continuously before you automatically acquire the right of permanent residence. Only then you can then apply for a permanent residence document, which confirms your rights to live in the country where you now live permanently, without any conditions.

In this case I think permanent resident refers to the Maltese tax and residence status which is no longer available, not to EU permanent residence, but in either case has to be specifically applied for
