People born in malta and deceased in other countries now have to be registeted in Malta and if a death certificate is needed from the country where they passed away it has to be apostille

Agreed Volcane, this is good information, I have an expat kid and know numerous expat families with children born here.

Additionally, this will apply to anyone not necessarily born in Malta but who may have aquired citizenship throughout their lifetime. This forum has discussed citizenship by decent and citizenship by marriage.

When a Maltese citizen dies abroad, their death needs to be registered with the Malta Public Registry, either through a Maltese Mission (embassy or consulate) or directly at the Malta Public Registry offices in Malta. An original death certificate from the foreign authority and proof of Maltese citizenship are required.
