Exporting a car bought in Malta to the UK

Hi everyone,

We're in the process of relocating back to the UK and currently have our Malta registered car in the UK. The registration in the UK seems to be clear. However I don't know what I'm supposed to do on the Malta side regarding unregistering. When we brought our UK car to Malta there was a simple "Notification of Export" slip on the registration documents which we sent back to the UK. That was it, but I'm struggling to find out how to notify Transport Malta that the car is gone. Anyone have any experience or insights?

In Malta this procedure is easy. As soon as you do not pay insurance and road tax anymore your car is considered exported. As a matter of politeness you could inform Transport Malta聽 by email saying:" My car Maltese registration ??? ??? was exported to the UK. You may allocate my previous Maltese registration number to another owner."
