IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR UK NATIONALS

SimCityAT

The EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES) is now in effect: this means that when you travel into the Schengen area for short stays, you may need to register your biometric details, such as fingerprints and a photo. You do not need to take any action before you arrive at the border, and there is no cost for EES registration.

🔹 In Hungary, EES officially launches at land border crossings first, starting with Beregsurány (Ukrainian border). Serbia will follow shortly after. The EES rollout will only start at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport from 18 November.

🔹 If you are resident or have a long-stay visa to live in Hungary, and you have the correct documentation, you will be exempt from EES. Make sure your residence document is valid before travel and always travel with it.

It's still not clear what anyone has to do on arrival IF they have a RP.

Straight to the Passport person or go to the machine to get a ticket to show you're not required to use EES?   They need to have video or flowchart showing exactly what to do.

At BUD airport, they have marshals who try to push you into various queues.  I am thinking the delays might be to my advantage if I get off a UK origin plane.  The rest of the passengers will queueing up at the EES machines and maybe I can just cruise on straight to the desk instead of joining in the melee.

Presumably those already EES registered can go directly to the desk.  Or not?  Or do they have to go there to the EES machine every time?   And if they have a ETAIS?   To me it seems absolutely unexplained.
