Hi , I own a property in Hungary. I am not a resident. I want to get cover for my wife if I should die. Any ideas how I should go about this?

Thanks in advance.

Are you actually (legally) married to your wife?

Do you have any kids under 26 or still in school etc?

Do you have a mortgage or have a loan on the property?

You can contact a notary in Hungary. They make out legal contracts and have many services to offer without having to seek out a lawyer.

Guy posted, never came back.

Shouldn't need much as the inheritance law on immovable property on property located in HU is always HU law. Doesn't matter about laws elsewhere.

Comes down to 50% wife and 50% remainder split equally with any surviving kids.  If no wife, kids get equal split.

Probate is handled by the equivalent of a probate office here. They make the property estimates and therefore tax due. It's not huge amounts. Nothing to do much with the actual saleable value.

Mrs F is going through this now on the MIL's land and we did it on the FIL assets too.

As the law is really clear here, we've not made wills at all for HU property.  That's us, others mileage may vary.

p.s. BTW, the OP's name is that of a football manager of years ago.  Might be a spammer or troll.
