Hello All!

I'm French and will be moving to Sofia for work. I've lived in the UK, China and Russia so Bulgaria will be yet again a new adventure for me. I'd love to meet with other expats, travellers and locals, go for drinks, food, talks, walks etc.
Basically I'd like to make new friends and get some advice on housing, bank account opening, sim cards etc.

Sounds good, you're coming for the ski season. Unfortunately we're on a restricted schedule due to the Covid 19. It will continue till 21 of December. But that's not a problem if you're searching for accommodation or even for a job.
Bank account can be opened once you have a BG address. Same /almost/ is valid for the SIM cards - basically 3 GSM operators - Vivacom, Telenor and A1.
As for the banks, I would advice on choosing between Raiffesen, Societe Generale, UnicreditBulbank, First Investment Bank and probably DSK.
Housing wise, it is good to select a location with minimum transport time to your job聽 and yet a good neighbourhood. I personally preferr places close to the subway and to a park.
