S1 with French address

grumpyoldbird

I'm not sure if anyone will have personal experience of this, but it's worth a try.

I'm a retired UK citizen living in France post Brexit. I contacted the OHS to change my S1 details to Bulgaria, as I plan to move over later this year.

Turns out that in true French fashion, they've never registered my S1. Until it's registered in France, it can't be transferred to Bulgaria. I've contacted them asking them register it with the OHS as a matter of urgency, but since it took them 2.5 years to transfer my driving license, I'm not optimistic.

Has any other UK citizen moved from another EU country and transferred their S1?

I'm trying to find out if the Bulgarian Embassy will accept it with a French address, on the understanding that it will be transferred, or if I need to get health insurance for my visa application.

Ugh! I'm so sorry you have this extra hurdle to deal with!

I gather from other discussions here that the health insurance needed for the D visa isn't very expensive, so if you can't get an answer from the Bg Embassy on the question, it may be worth getting insurance just to avoid more delays and being stuck in limbo in France longer than needed.
