T.V. Viewing and contracts.

Johnstuart

Hi

Hope you’re all well.

On my recent visit to Bulgaria, I was keen to find out about having internet available in my house. It would appear that most providers require a minimum of two year contract to be set up.

I just wondered if the option to pay only for the time spent in Bulgaria still exists.

I look forward to your comments.

Have a great day !

@Johnstuart Whereabouts is your house? I'm with Coolbox in Plovdiv and it's just a month to month contract, you can cancel anytime. If there are any smaller providers available to you they'd probably be your best bet. This site lists them by region/town, it'll give you an idea if anything's available outside the big national companies.https://kabelna.com/

Location & services will dictate your provider & options. My friends come across for holidays and ring / email Optinet ( fibre optic internet too ) and have it switched on for whenever they are here & go into their office and pay. So, I'm sure there will be others offering a similar service.

@Johnstuart We pay 37 Lev a month for a gigabit connection, tv and phone line, internet only is 25 I think. Around that is pretty usual from what I've seen.

Your village is on the Kabelna site, Bulsatcom is listed as an available provider, they offer monthly contracts according to their site.

Belovo, isn't that near to Pazardzhik? I think we drove past your house on our way back from Bansko (to Plovdiv) over the summer. :-)

As others have said, the big guys (A1, Vivacom, Telenor/Yettel) have fixed-term (1 year/2 years) contracts, so no skipping months.

Coolbox has easy cancel, but that's a bit different. And they're only in a few big cities, not small villages.

So it's down to whether there is a smaller provider that serves your village, or whether you're forced to go with Vivacom, etc.

We're lucky that one of our neighbours is the internet entrepeneur for our village, and the two neighbouring ones. He connected fibre internet right to our house, and he charges 20 leva a month (internet only, not TV/movies/sport). He lets us pay for 6 months in advance (and get 1 month free), or we can just pay for the current month at the village shop, whenever we go stay at the house.

These smaller outfits might not have a website, so it's best to ask others in your village who they're using.

Separately, I'm a Vivacom customer, and they are not bad. We have two mobile phone contracts with them, and they do discounts when you add other services. I just signed up for their FiberNet L home internet option for our Plovdiv apartment. 200 Mbps fibre internet for 20 leva per month (about 100 quid a year) is not a bad deal.
