Single Permit Processing in 2022
@Ewms I am glad your work permit was approved! In my husband's case it took very long, there was no case of it already being issued and his employer just failing to inform us, because we regularly followed up with his employer, it just took very long. Luckily it was finally issued a week ago and now we wait for the residency permit, but based on the feedback on this thread, it seems like it will take at least 2 months Good luck!
Hello Everyone,
3rd of june company applied
6 of july received my approval
26 August received my Annex

@ibarazimail
Congrats!
Was it the first application or renewal?
@ibarazimail congratulations , i have the same timeline , i hope get my annex soon . i will also work in zaventim , you can search for studio in immoweb and immovlan
Update from Ministry of Interior: for Flanders the RP processing time is now 10-13 weeks counting from WP approval.
Again the absolute maximum processing time for the SP (WP+RP) from the moment that the request is filed and received is 120 days (17 weeks). If you receive no refusal or request for additional info to delay the request in that time, SP is automatically approved and annex 47 is given.
@kim83 thanks for the information. I saw on the dofi website saying on the case that WP is approved, but when RP get refused: The Immigration Office refuses the residence permit → it communicates its decision to the worker with an appendix 48 and it informs the employer and the Region. The procedure is complete.
So what does it mean the procedure is ‘complete’? Does anyone know?
@Jenna24 The process is complete but not in a positive way, in this case the single permit is refused.
My file has been submitted today.
Region: Brussels
Application: 31/08/2022
WP: Waiting
RP: Waiting
According to KPMG the current processing times are as follows:
WP: 4-5 weeks
RP: 8-12 weeks
@Ewms How can I get access to the immigration website?
Hi,
How long does it take at immigration process step after WP approved?
is there anyway to push it or contact them except the email address?
I am looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
Hi,
I have received my WP. How long time the immigration service will take to approve SP?
Is there any other way to contact them or push the application except contacting them via email?
looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
@kim83 When the application is approved, does this mean that no additional document is required, and the SP will be delivered after 120 days without a response?
Dear All,
I would like to ask you, once the work permit is approved, do we receive an email or any notification stating it is approved?
My application was filed on 6th Jul by my employer and they later told me Work permit approved on 8th Aug, but I never got any email or notification.
Timelines:
Application filed: 6th Jul (Region: Brussels)
No reply email: 6th Jul
Work Permit approval: 8th Aug (but I never received any confirmation)
Resident Permit: waiting
@arunml
The authority sends the e-mail to your employer. You don't receive any mail from the authority regards to wp.
@serdary4 Thank you so much for the response.
@single permit
I'm not an expert, so anyone correct me if I'm wrong
When the application submitted by your employer is approved, a 120 days (17 weeks) timer starts. Five possibilities exist:
- A first a check of all documents is done. If something is missing, your employer needs to submit those documents within 15 days or the application is refused and you get annex 48. See below*.
- If the documents are complete, first the regional authority checks your application. This takes 4-5 weeks. If they approve, the Work Permit part of the Single Permit is granted. If they don't approve, your application is refused and you get annex 48. See below*.
- If the regional authority approves your Work Permit, the federal authority now checks for your Residence Permit: whether or not you're allowed to live in Belgium. This takes (currently) 10-13 weeks due to the incredible volume of demand (post-Covid, Ukraine etc.). If they don't approve, your application is refused and you get annex 48. See below*.
- If the federal authority approves, you get annex 46 and you can go to the consular post chosen in your Single Permit application to apply for Visa D to enter Belgium.
- If either the regional authority or federal authority fails to take a decision within 120 days, you are automatically granted annex 47 and you can go to the consular post chosen in your Single Permit application to apply for Visa D to enter Belgium. See below*. I'm not sure how often this actually happens and I've read of the authorities using delay tactics such as requesting "better scanned copies" of certain documents as delay tactics. They cannot delay the procedure indefinitely, though, the Single Permit is a European directive that Belgium can't play fast and loose with. I'm saying this as a Belgian.
(*) If at any point your application is refused and you get annex 48 or the 120 days timeline is exceeded and you don't get annex 47 (there's someone in the topic here who's been waiting since March apparently), you need to appeal with the Council of State within 30 days. It is the supreme court of administrative justice: they're basically the authority that makes sure the other authorities obey the law. Again as a Belgian myself this tickles my bureaucratic bone in just the right away.
DON'T appeal to them if you were given a valid reason for refusal and annex 48, and DON'T appeal unless the 120 days were exceeded and you didn't get annex 47. They absolutely cannot help you "speed things up". If anything the appeal procedure may take a while...
I know that waiting is hard and frustrating and we all feel powerless. Tell me about it. Don't lose hope, friends, we really are in this together. It'll be worth it when you finally get here and I promise that apart from our silly crazy bureaucracy, Belgium is actually a very nice place to work and live.
This message was NOT paid for by the Belgian authorities. But they should pay me for it.
@kim83
ðŸ‘👠many thanks for your detailed explanation. I hope all of us reach the privilege of living and working in Belgium.
@kim83 Wow thanks. But I wonder if it's '120 days' or '4 months'. Because for me, the 120 day deadline ends up by the 6th, Sept(3 days left!) but the embassy is saying my deadline would be rather the 10th, regarding the '4months' deadline! Hope I get one anyway
@fikk hi
i have almost the same time line
-region Flanders
-no-reply on 18th of July
-WP still waiting
-Annexe 46 still waiting
@Jenna24
Officially it's 120 days from the moment they acknowledge receiving your completed file. 4 months can mean different things at different times of year, especially around February. That says, I would do as the embassy says and wait until the 10th, though, they may know something we don't. It's very likely you will still get your annex 46 in those last days rather than the automatic annex 47.
That said if you don't hear anything at all by the 4 month mark, you should reach out to the Council of State. The current situation is not normal, though, 12 weeks to process the RP is absurd.
Hello everyone, time for an update.
Timeline:
Application filed: 13th June (Region: Flanders)

Congrats! It is nice to hear somebody got his approval!
@Gokhan A.
Congrats! Was this a renewal or did you apply for a single permit for the first time?
Thank you @serdary4.
This is the first time application @bc2910.
@kim83,
Thanks for your detailed response! I sent you a private message and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
@Gokhan A. Congrats! We have exactly the same timeline but I have not yet received the update from my employer.
Has anyone in Turkey recently applied for the visa after receiving single permit? How long did it take you to receive ?

@kim83 I thought you wrote a good write up and with regards to the last possibility this is exactly what happened with my husband. We provided all the documents but his work permit took incredibly long. After 2 months they requested a better scanned copy of his work contract - the employer sent the same work contract again and his work permit was approved 3 weeks after that. His employer also confirmed that this was a "Delay tactic" to give themselves more time. So it definitely does happen. However I am not sure how this effects the 120 day period - if by them requesting a "better scanned copy" the 120 day effectively starts all over again? Not at all sure.
Those that received the "admissibility" notification from their employers, how long did it take between being notified that your file was deemed admissible by the authorities and when you received the (first) work authorization approval? Especially those whose applications were filed with the Brussels REM.
My case:
Region: Brussels
Date of application of SP (as informed by lawyer): July 29th
Date of privacy email receipt from social security: August 2nd
Date of request for all pages of my passport by authorities: earlier, but lawyer only informed me on August 25th
Date of notification that my file has been deemed admissible: August 29th
WP: waiting
SP: waiting
Unfortunately, still a long, long, long wait ahead. Sigh!
