Panamanian citizenship issues

Ksumike76

I am a citizen of the United States but was born in the Panama Canal Zone and eligible for Panamanian citizenship. I am retired and thinking about spending time in Panama. Would love to connect with anyone with similar experiences. What is it like to live in Panama and the United States? Really interested in a dual living arrangement. I appreciate anyone’s thoughts and opinions.

I became naturalized as a Panamanian citizen in 2013. I have lived in Panama for the past 25 years. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I am also an American citizen. I was born in Pennsylvania. I think it is good to have citizenship if you plan to live in Panama.

I think a dual living arrangement between the U.S. and Panama is very doable , I know people doing it now. Since you’re eligible for Panamanian citizenship, you have a smoother path than most. The residency process usually starts with collecting your U.S. documents, getting them apostilled, and then officially translated for Immigration. From there, you can apply for residency, and later it can lead to citizenship.
