Hi Kim, some good questions ! It really depends on your expectations regarding work/salary after the course.
I also understand your concerns regarding various training companies in VN.....it is a substantial commitment by you to move from NZ to Vn , complete the course and start teaching.

I'm fluent in Vietnamese too.

I took an online TEFL course for about $600, came over here to Saigon in July 2015, and got a job within 2 weeks. I started off with  a part-time English communication tutor center, and then employed part-time by another English center for test prep (SAT, IELTS, etc) and juniors. Now I'm living comfortably by myself and exploring the city while working just less than 20hrs a week. If you have more questions, you can PM me.

I also did my TESOL online.... cheaper.

Some of my friends regretted taking the TESOL course here in vietnam. they said they paid double the price, couldn't even understand some of the instructors giving the course (specially from AUS)

I am looking at the same issue on-line cert vs. on-site in Vietnam cert.

I have not done either yet, but since I have spent hours and hours looking into this and read hundreds of comments of others that have gone cert and now are teaching in VN and CM and Thailand; I would have to agree with the above comments.  Save your money for accomodations upon arrival and go the on-line cert for 2/5 the price.  Make sure you plan your arrival to be able to get a job ....... as  I have found repeated warnings about showing up after Nov. as it will be hard to get a placement during the holiday season from Dec to mid Jan.   If you are tight on budget do the on-line cert and arrive soon or wait until mid Jan.  That's just the advice I have found regardless of country.  Don't just research the VN teaching thing as your will find tons of helpful stuff on forums regarding other countries like CM and TH and CH even Korea.  Apologize if this is redundant but make sure you got all your official docs ready upon arrival to be able to get a visa and possible work permit if your employer requires it.  Personally with your dual language fluency I think you will get snapped up like a $100 bill laying on a sidewalk.  You also have opportunites for other jobs with your language skills like working for Int. companies or expat with companies in VN so you might want to hit the bricks when you arrive and seek out those types of jobs beyond just teaching.   I hope this helps and good luck.

On another note there is something I have run across on CL and even other boards.  You find these teaching jobs and even website soliciting for you to get  some great teaching job and they demand you send your doc package including your CV, passport etc.   Geeze, please don't send your docs to someone you have not identified, you a young attractive woman and you might attract someone of ill will.  Before sending any docs you make sure the person identifies themselves, their school plus it's location and at a minimum a Viber/Whatsapp/Skype beyond email address.  I have found more than a few postings that were in my mind not legitimate sources for a job.  Some are just folks trolling for info that I think they are trying t sell to other schools to get commissions and I am sure you don't want your passport and ID package being traded that way.  Be aware and take descent precautions.

I'll be moving to Vietnam to live for a year on the 7th of December 2015. I am looking for a ESL teaching job possibly near Go Vap or district 10,11,12. I just graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. I'm 22 years of age, and have lived in New Zealand since I was 2 years old. I did some private ESL tutoring in the last few months…. I don't have a TEFL but would like to get one after I get a bit of teaching experience.

I'm also fluent in Vietnamese, and can speak a bit of French and Italian. I heard there is a lot of discrimination towards "Viet-Kieus" in Vietnam and that Language Centres only employ white teachers. I'm not white, but I don't look very Vietnamese either. Some people say I can get away being a Singaporean where English is their official language. Does anyone know of a school where they don't discriminate, that I can apply to teach, or any international tourism Company that employ Viet Kieus?

Hi again Kimphan, for whatever reason your profile won't let me PM you.  If you do in fact come to VN looking for a job then PM me and I'm glad to share a lot I've learned since I got a teaching gig and I'be made friends some two other teachers been here for as many as 8 years teaching...learned a lot I'm glad to pass on.  Don't worry got no other agenda.  I also confirmed there are fake posters on CL that are trolling for resumes and trying to get part of people's contracts as commission.  I can tell you one name doing that.  Good Luck!
