Audiobooks to study Vietnamese

Kurterino

I find the Vietnamese language particularly difficult to understand, i. e. I find it really hard to understand spoken words in a sentence even if I’m supposed to know them. A friend recommended to get audiobooks and the print version,  and listen and read them at the same time, in order to get better at that. Which is probably a really good way to learn, so maybe other learners here wanna try it too ;)

I am using UDEMY.com to earn Vietnamese. The lecture has a B.A in English, speaks excellent English and the course (there are three levels) has both video (which can be downloaded to a smartphone) plus subtitles.
I spend a lot of time in Vietnam each year and have found the courses a great way to learn the language, but also get to hear the language as the Viet people speak.

I use an app called Mondly:

which offers 33 languages

The free version offers single daily lesson. The paid version (69k vnd/month) provides a wide range of content appropriate for beginner to intermediate level learners.

Thank you, I’m downloading it right now and I’ll give it a try. I’m also working through L-Lingo which I like a lot more than Duolingo (I’m not using that anymore anymore), but I’m not sure if it’s available for Android.

You're welcome. It's doesn't actually match your request but it does provide the audio so that you can hear the (northern) pronunciation of the words and sentences as you read them.

It's also helpful if you can install a VNese keyboard because it sometimes makes you type in the words and phrases that you hear.

Vietnamese keyboard is installed by default on iPhones, you just have to activate it like any other foreign keyboard. I suppose it’s the same on Android?

I’ve done a lesson on Mondly, it’s certainly better than Duolingo (which I found a little disappointing, actually). But Mondly is a little confusing to me (for now), I don’t quite understand to what content I’ll have access without paying a subscription fee. I’m not against paying (L-Lingo isn’t free either), but I don’t like subscriptions. I think the first week is a trial week, but I’m not even sure of that (as I said, it’s not very clear to me).
Hopefully I’ll be able to use it without paying recurring fees, it looks promising.
