How long will my work pass (EP, S-Pass, WP) application take
@beppi Support letter to go along with the employment pass of s pass application.
Supporting documents from professional bodies in SG.
@jaden789 This is the first time I hear about this. Which professional body? What should they write? What would that achieve?
Anyone applied in end May?
I applied on 22nd May and no news yet.. its showing pending.
I am already working in singapore for almost 10 years and changing jobs.
Hello Everyone, sharing my timeline for EP which was approved today
changing of employer
Applied - May 16
approved - June 1
wishing all those waiting for EP/Spass gets approved too.
thank you
IPA copy is enough for your entry to Singapore along with valid passport. You need to show your residence address or hotel address to immigration officer incase they ask.
After you reached here, your employer will arrange medical appointments to get a fit certificate for you to work. Then your employer will have arranged an appointment with MoM office where you need to go for photo shoot, finger print, and documents verification (if they want). Then, MoM will send EP card to your employer’s address. Till you get your EP card, this IPA is legal document for you to stay here. Good luck
My timeline:
27 Apr applied
5 Jun IPA approved
No additional docs needed
Hi, I live in Singapore on Dependent Pass and recently secured a job in a startup. They have applied for the EP recently, but I think a salary of SGD7000 is low for my experience (10 years). I checked in SAT also and could see that if my salary were SGD9000, I would have been eligible for the EP. With an SGD7000 salary, I am showing suitable for S pass only. I told this to my potential employer, but they said we would make the adjustments later if MOM says it's too low.
Does MOM do that? What do you guys think?
My wife's employer increased her salary by SGD 300 to resubmit her application (they resent the offer), which got approved in another ten days.

@Beppi @surya2k can you guys please help me with an answer here?
@KUHSNIK As we wrote several times before, the SAT does not lie. Thus, if it says you are eligible for S-Pass but not EP, then you are eligible for S-Pass but not EP.
I have no idea why this employer insists on wasting their, your and MoM's time, but there is no point in this!
Thanks for all your inputs.
New EP with Change of employer.

Hi All,
I am currently waiting for my work pass (Epass) to be approved.
The status shown “pending†from 5/6/2023 until now.
May I get to know whose work pass also submitted during this time frame (June) and perhaps the status of yours.
Thanks.
@Doudou_
Hi all, just wanted to give an update on my application status.
Pending: 5/6/2023
Approved: 20/6/2023
10 working days.
Good luck to all.
Sharing my journey till now, also checking if someone has something similar going on?
Date of EP Application: 24th May, 2023
Invalid on: 5th June, 2023
Reason: Education Certificate Verification Required by MoM
Employer Applied for Verification with RMI: 13th June.
The overall third party verification is being taken care by the employer, without involvement from me. 16th June I was asked to fill the Third Party verification consent form.
Status: Waiting for verification (Fingers Crossed)
Wait time: Almost 4 week (Including One Rejection and Verification on going)
Nationality: Indian
Sharing my case as well:
Date of EP application: April 18, 2023
Date of MOM reply to employer that they need more time to check: April 27, 2023
Date of start showing pending status: May 21, 2023
Date of EP approval: June 20, 2023
Others:
- no other information/document requested by MOM
- Auditor in a semicon company
- Ex-PR (8 years) who withdrew CPF in 2016
- No tax liability
- Employer did not bother to contact MOM of the status and told me just to wait for the results.
So good luck everyone! Be patient.
@raifurung Thanks for sharing your case!
As you are ex-PR who withdrew the CPF, please allow me the following questions:
- Did this, in your opinion, lead to problems or a more negative view of your EP application?
- Did you have to return the withdrawn CPF (plus interest) before or after EP approval?
Thanks for your input!
@beppi the CPF withdrawal may have affected the EP application (thus it took >2 months), but I can only guess, as MOM is silent on this. I have yet to receive a copy of the IPA from our HR, but so far there's no requirement to return the CPF. What I know is that the return of the CPF with interest is required if an Ex-PR re-apply for permanent residency.
By the way, I forgot to mention that the company who applied for my EP is the same company I worked with when I was a PR. I continued to work with the same company (assigned at Philippine site) when I left SG. Now they require me to be stationed at SG. This may have helped the approval. But then again, we can only guess.
@krakeshsams yaa, that is the issue. My university is not a part of the drop down.
Currently stuck in verification phase with RMI. RMI says they have initiated the verification process and the college says they have not received it. So stuck.

Entering the 8th week after waiting. I know there are some candidates that got processed within a week or a few days, but I really have no idea what is happening with my case despite me meeting all the requirements for my work pass. To all other professionals, this is the risk that we need to take if we want to work in Singapore. You might get approval in a day and it is absolutely possible for MOM to drag their feet and keep you hanging for 6 months, since MOM does not give a date. I am starting to have regrets waiting because I am not sure how long more I need to wait, it could be months and maybe even years. My employer contacted MOM and MOM says "be patient, we are expediting your case".
@KelvinJames2512 Unfortunately, you are playing in their field with their ball - so you better accept their rules!
My case (as a Software Engineer with 5y+ exp)
EP Submitted and Approved in not even 3 working days
I got my IPA now and waiting for joining the new company on August. However I got a much better offer from a larger company which is working with government as well. Should I take the risk to decline the current offer and take the newer one (which I'm very keen on) ? Any reason MoM rejects my second EP approval (the HR told me that they could strongly assure for me 2nd application) ?
@naruto_00 There is, of course, always a risk that the new EP application will be rejected and, since you'd have to cancel the other one to be able to apply, you would then have lost both chances.
You must decide for yourself which risks you want to take in life!
@beppi
Thanks for your prompt response.
Just a concern that in case I can’t convince current employer to cancel IPA (although rejected their offer) so that the new one can apply for my EP, can I seek help from MoM to cancel on their behalf?
And does the current employer has the obligation to cancel IPA upon my offer rejection?
@naruto_00 When you terminate the employment contract, the employer must cancel the associated work pass effective on the day your contract ends.
If they refuse to cancel, you can complain about it to MoM and submit to them sufficient proof like employment contract, termination letter, communication with the employer in which they refuse to cancel, etc. Then MoM will decide what to do.
(Note: Some employment contracts state that they cannot be terminated before the first day of work - and you usually also have to fulfill a termination notice period. What does your contrat say?)
@beppi
I have’t signed any conttact but a letter of appointment. It does mention about notice period of 1 month, but does it take effect as I haven’t started working (onboarding process not finished and EP not issued either) yet?
Sencond concern that in case of signing only offer letter instead of employment contract, can I still inform MoM if employer refuses to cancel? Just worry about situation when they decide to hold IPA until expiry date and I could do nothing on it.
@naruto_00 You better consult a lawyer about this, as I am not an expert. But by signing (or even verbally agreeing to join them), you have in effect an employment contract with the company. That contract defines how you can terminate it. If you don't terminate it correctly (and show MoM proof of this), MoM won't do anything and the employer is right to not cancel the work pass.
@beppi Thank you. I've found a page stated by MoM for my inquiry. Seems like I'm not bounded to the legal obligation until I start showing up and working.()BTW, last concern: Does things like job-hopping or quick mind changer important factors that could impact MoM on their EP approval decision? Is it often that they could reject for those reasons?
@naruto_00 The page refers to the Employment Act which, as far as I know, does not apply to EP and S-Pass. It also refers only to contractual penalties for not fulfilling the notice period-nothing to do with work passes (your question). You really need to ask a lawyer! (Or find a mutually agreeable solution together with the employer.)
Job-hopping and changes of mind do affect subsequent applications negatively. But how much is in the discretion of MoM.
@incoming what is the status now? And did MOM just asked to verify Masters degree or both masters and bachelors..? I am stuck with the same issue of degree verification..
@Raah yes, they ask for education verification, it takes a month to complete mine, after all document's submission, I got reject from MOM about my EP application.
Was rejection reason provided to your employer ? @Luli Tess
@Lydia Turtle Mine.
21-July: New company applied for my Spass
11-Aug: MOM came back to company asking for support letter why need to hire me, submitted on same day
Still pending up until now
my company already apply working permit since 31 july and until now still pending. Actually how long for take s pass until approve?
@Lydia Turtle Work Permit (WP) or S-Pass? Different process, but both usually take beteen two weeks and two months - special cases (e.g. vetting needed) may delay this. Read related forum posts!
06-07-2023 EP applied
10-07-2023 MOM asked for degree verification
17-08-2023 Degree verification completed and submitted to MOM
23-08-2023 EP Rejected
anyone else had the same case? Why will MOM reject my EP if degree verification completed? And if there was any other reason why didn’t MOM just reject it earlier before going through the process of degree verification? This is so strange and frustrating..
