Hunting For Chicken Rice

JosieQ

Hi, I've just moved to Singapore not long ago and heard about how good chicken rice tasted. I've had the common coffeeshop fare but I think there should be better stalls out there somewhere. Does anybody know where to find the better-quality stalls?

To be considered good (very subjective of course, depending on one's taste buds), the chicken, the rice and certainly the chilli sauce must all be good. So, don't skip the chilli . . .

Anyway, here's a popular food blog on local fare which you may also like to consult

Enjoy . . .

Thanks Amel1a! I'm spoilt for choice.

I think I'll have to try Bong Toon Kee since you both declare it to be so good.

It's on the blog link you provided as well.

I tried searching for it on inSing but none of the branches are in River Valley. Are you sure you're not mistaken?

The two branches are in Balestier and Whamboa.

Very good chicken rice are usually family own and small, there is one which has been around for more than 50 years at the junction of Dickson and Jalan Besar.? Chilly superb and the beancurb soup must try. Set back is the environment. Price for two with bean curb soup about SG $10.00

Going to explore again! :)

There is a place called "Yet Con" in Purvis Street. The place looks like a mafia den and these guys have been making chicken rice since 1970 if I am not wrong.

The chilli is just divine! As they say here, "Die Die Must Try!"

This thread just got me salivating. I look forward to trying out the different Sing foods soon! :)

I don't get the deal with chatterbox though. It does not taste that great so as to justify the crazy price you are paying for it.

Oh well personal tastes i guess...

Do not bother with Boon Tong Kee! Ever since they went upmarket, it's been just downhill! Chatterbox has the worst chicken rice and it's insane to pay that price! Tong Fung or Tian Tian at Maxwell road market are 2 really good ones!
