PR rejection after 11 months

Prish123

Hi all,

me and husband are working professional. I am senior perosn in Sales (fund management) and husband data Director in IT segment.

we have been in Sg for 10 year now and both have good income. We have one daughter, born in SG ,7 year and going to international school .

last year sep 2024 we applied the PR which got rejected just after 11 months. Before rejecting , we got enquiry from ICA about our daughter school whereabouts.

ao just curious to check if she studying in International school could be criteria for rejection.?

The criteria for PR approval/rejection are not public - and likely to change over time and maybe even from case to case.

But the the fact that they asked about your daughter's school (I assume you applied for her PR, too?) shows, that it has something to do with the decision.

PR approval is generally given to people who integrate well and will stay here long-term. Sending a kid to an international school can be seen as negative in these respects. But whether that cased (or contributed to) your rejection is mere speculation.

I can understand your concern — waiting almost a year and then receiving a rejection can be very frustrating. To your question, ICA usually doesn’t reject solely because a child is in an international school. It’s just one factor among many (like length of stay, family profile, income, industry, contributions to Singapore, etc.).

Many families in a similar position have succeeded on re-application with better profile positioning and documentation. [edited by moderators]
