Will I be denied entry into Malaysia from Singapore?

RedInSG

I had a very promising job interview and potential job offer here in Singapore (basically, a 90% chance i would say).

Catch is, my STVP is expiring on November 4 - my IPA approval wont be ready by then.

I plan to exit to Malaysia and stay in an AirBnB until November 15, and wait out the results of my application there instead of going home.

I know this may be seen as a way to circumvent the rules of ICA, so I plan to have a back up ticket to fly to my home country from Kuala Lumpur, if in case I am denied re-entry into Singapore (i.e. if my IPA is still not approved by then).

My question is:

Is there a possibility for me to be denied entry into Malaysia if I exit Singapore on November 3?

Will I be interrogated at both SG and Malaysia borders? I worry because my STVP expires November 4, and I plan to exit on November 3. Is this okay?

This is the Singapore forum,so we don't know (and don't discuss) about entry requirements for other countries (Malaysia).

For Singapore, there will be no problem if you return with an IPA for your work pass in hand.

@beppi let me reverse the question:

Is there a possibility that Singapore will not allow me to exit?

I’m glad to hear that you have a good chance of getting a job in Singapore. I hope your IPA approval goes smoothly and quickly.

According to the entry requirements into Malaysia, you need to have a valid passport, a visa (if applicable), and a return or onward ticket. You also need to fill out a health declaration form and download the MySafeTravel app. You don’t need to have a COVID-19 test or quarantine, unless you have symptoms or are from a high-risk country.

According to the ICA website, you need to notify them of any changes in your personal details, including your travel status. You can do this by filling out Form 929 and emailing it to [link moderated]. This way, they’ll be aware of your whereabouts and can contact you if needed.

I don’t think you’ll have any problems entering Malaysia or returning to Singapore, as long as you have all the necessary documents and follow the rules. However, you might be asked some questions at the borders, so be prepared to explain your situation and show proof of your IPA application.

I hope this helps you with your travel arrangements.

@RedInSG Unless you are a criminal with outstanding arrest warrant, you can always exit the country.

Just covering all my bases. Thank you so much @beppi and @justdavid :)
