Working online

Paulo cesar da silva

Hello.
I'm a Portuguese citizen living actually in Ireland.
I'm working here for almost two years.
Me and me girlfriend, a filipina living and working in Babalacat, are planing to live together there.
I'm looking to start working online, maybe teaching and after I settle up in one year or so, we are willing to start a business, food/meal related.
If anyone have some tips or wanna to give some advices, you are welcome. :)
Salamat.

Working online is going to depend on your skill set. If you have any marketing experience you can work anywhere, but you are working for yourself and that requires a lot of discipline.

There are a lot of people who look for Virtual Assistants in the Philippines. The downside is it pays just slightly better than Filipino wages. If you can live the Filipino lifestyle that's plenty. Personally, I can't. I spent a week in a place that cost $80 USD a month showering out of a bucket and gave that up.

If you have skills you can use to freelance check out the various freelancing websites. There is plenty of work once you land a few jobs. Getting the first few might be tough though.

Another option is to look for telemarketing or online data entry jobs. Keep in mind they use software to track your work. For a telemarketing job you get paid for the time you are on the phone, not the time you spend waiting for a call.

Be careful about the laws here. If you are on a tourist visa you can't work. Online will be a grey area. As long as you are not beating a Filipino out of a job you will be ok.
