Information regarding a trike franshise.

Aussie Dave

Could somebody please help me with this question please?
I just bought a new motorbike, and had a side car built to attach it to it, so as I can have it for private use, but the problem is to get somebody to drive it for me when required, ( I cant drive it myself ) and it is just sitting in my driveway....idle.
I am still waiting for the plates even though I have paid for the private registration for it.
Now I have decided that  the best thing for me to do is to get it registered, so as it can be driven to pick up passengers and was told that to do this there is a cost of 100,000 peso`s to do so,  and that there is also a long wait unless I know somebody in the LTO who can get it done faster for me.
Because I am a novice at this sort of thing I am at a loss of where to start, so if somebody could advise me I would appreciate it very much.
Also what are the costs, and wages to pay a driver to operate it in Dumaguete?
Thank you so much,
David.

I was looking at some adverts the other day, and saw a trike advertised for sale, with passenger licence, and the cost was 250,000p.  That plus what you have just said has made me realise that a trike franshise/licence is not cheap for Filipinos.

The has an article saying "In the case of Mandaluyong City, tricycle drivers there earned P445 for their daily average net income"

Not your area, but a guide.

I've seen posts saying between 200 and 1,000 per day, but can't be sure if that is gross or net. But trike fares can also vary massively in different areas.

I agree, it is.  But that's what it is, and not much anyone can do.

If it is for private use, not for hire, why are you going for a commercial license?

I think you'll find a lot of roadblocks if you try to go ahead with your venture. There will be a lot of people who will view you as trying to steal one of the most important jobs in Dumaguette. You won't make any friends I'm sure.

Aussie Dave

Let me explain regarding my trike.
First of all I have hired a person to be my personal driver, and he suggested to me that I should look
into getting my trike registered commercially, and that he would drive it for me and give me 300 peso`s a day, which is the going rate here in Dumaguete.
He said that MOST of the commercial trikes are registered with foreigners so that is NOT a problem, as it gives work to the locals, and that they are happy with that, but after looking into the cost of getting it
registered commercially I have decided not to go ahead with it, but to keep it for my own private use, and still use the driver that I have now, as he is happy to drive it for me privately, a I pay him 3000 per month to be on hand 24/7, but sometimes I may only use him a couple of times a week, but he still gets paid 3000 peso`s, and he not only drives the trike for me but helps out when needed, which is not very often.
So I hope that answers all the questions for the members who appeared a little concerned.
Happy commuting folks.

Better idea Dave! Put that guy to work or you're paying him too much. Wouldn't it be cheaper to sell the trike and just use one as you need it?
