Moving to Malaysia from Australia

canolaevatt

Hello forum members

Right now I am in the process of completing all the formalities here in Australia and moving to Malaysia to see out my remaining years left. At age 88 I realise there is not that many years left. I have made this decision for several reasons.

1. I have become very sad for the way my country has deteriorated due to the corruption and mismanagement of the present and previous government.

2. I have no family here in aust but I do have some malaysian relatives by marriage that I get on very well with and they are supportive of my plan to relocate.

Anyway I won't continue to bore everyone with it all just to say hi. 🤔ðŸ˜

Hi,

Which part Malaysia?

When I lived in Malaysia I used an insurance agent who always found me the best companies for medical coverage. It's probably impossible at your age, but an insurance agent would be able to confirm it for you. I'm not sure if she is still doing this as I haven't contacted her for about 10 years but if you are interested just drop me a pm and I'll give her your number. I think the last company we chose was Tokio Marine but we sometimes changed from year to year.

Yes Malaysia is a nice place to retire, especially for older people such as yourself. I'm not yet 70 so Malaysia is a bit tame for me but the standard of living is good as are medical facilities and the cost of living quite low.

Hi thanks for the info im giving the insurance a miss as I'm sure any insurance company would be expensive and also give so many hoops to jump thru it wouldn't be worth it. At this time I'm planning on settling in ipoh as that is where most of my relatives are located.

That sounds great. I don't know why more people don't leave home and go live overseas in better places instead of always complaining about the way countries are run. I hear it all the time from my friends in the UK, but they still remain there despite being pretty wealthy.

I think it's even worse when somebody actually hates where they're from, move to a new place, then try to turn the new place into the place they hate.
