Resident expats in SR

markarmstrong75

Hello All

Are the expats in SR a little weird? I have experienced another forum and mostly the old hands seemed to be both possessive and very precious about their little website.

No one can answer my questions about potential weird expats?

If it is the website/forum I think it is, then yeah, it's pretty territorial and not very "newbie"-friendly

I can't speak for Siem Reap, but in general, this part of Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam) is full of weird expats (myself included).

It's just part of the experience. You get used to it after a while.

There are numerous local facebook groups (i.e., "Siem Reap Expats") that usually have some more helpful people.

Let us know what additional questions you may have.

This particular forum (expat.com) is not especially active.

Thanks for that! I was beginning to think that I needed a special badge or something before they would let me participate.

I really hope I don't meet any of them IRL as they mainly seem to be alcoholics/druggies.

I have joined the FB groups which seem much more helpful, the particular site ends in 440 seems like a reenactment of the beach.

"Present!", shouts Aidan in HCMC from the back of the class, whilst raising his hand.

:)

Weird? Nah, just your run of the mill expats that you come across from all around the world.

Hiya

Arrived here in October 2023. Hoping there are some social events to make a few friends here.

Thanks in advance
