Horrible isn't it? Actually as from 07:30 there is a change in pressure, meaning they cut the water supply at 07:30!
Until when is this going to last? Why the hell in Grand Baie they are entitled to have water all day long. Why in Rose Hill they have water in the evening as well? Why in Curepipe which is the most rainy town they cut the water? It's driving me crazy!

The Vacoas Pond is dry.
It hasn't rained enough in the past month.
It's a rare phenomena that appears every 75 years or so.
The last time it happened was in 1935.
There are rumors around it.
Some people believe that when they dug up the fondations for the new statue in Grand Bassin, they have deviated the source of the Vacoas pond.
Other people say that  they have purposely deviated the source to accomodate new hotels in the south.
Those are all rumors.
Eventualy nature will settle up and we will have water for another 75 years.

Question is, when will that be? In 5 years?

ALaintier, how much did you have to pay for all of that equipment? Just trying to prepare myself mentally how much it will cost me...

what if you use a float switch. ask your plumber for details.

Another possibility is put the tank below ground level. Adjust an automatic pump with it, which runs 2-3 bars of pressure in all pipings all day. Save sum money in buying two tanks!

*this may burn your automatic device on pump on 1 / 2 yrs(Rs 1,500 it costs), but it may not. i used my one for the past 5 years.

*to see consumption of electricity of pump compared to your actual design
      oh, u can buy a solar pump...i've seen it somewhere...

Hi. I am planning to move to Mauritius in the near future. Is this limited availability of water a common occurrence? When looking for a place to stay, how important is it to look for an installed  water storage tank? Thanks.

Having lived both in undeveloped and developed areas, my experience is that water shortages are frequent across the island.

Most people in developed areas never really notice this though, since there is usually a local reservoir/pump system dealing with the situation when the feed from the main is out.

Basically you would look to rent a house with a reservoir/tank on the premises - otherwise you will have to live with frequent water shortages, especially at the end of the dry season.

Is the supply of electricity generally regular or also does that also get cut off at times?

Same thing there - it all depends on where you live.

In the northeast we had power outages pretty much every other day for hours on end, but Black River (south west) has been rock solid in comparison.

Otherwise get a backup system. A diesel powered UPS will keep your bulbs burning, but it will also burn a few holes in your wallet

Alaintier, are you sure about the prices? Cause I'm looking @ water tank prices, and it's much more expensive. Take a look:
