WiMax and Libya...not much you can do with the two of them in tandem.
I have been a subscriber since WiMax was introduced here. It has never worked well, consistently, or for any extended periods.
At times it is screaming fast, but usually you are lucky to just have a connection. The system loves to tease you with an occasional burst of speed, but the bandwidth ultimately drops to a crawl. The attitude and mindset of this, or for that matter, most companies is as long as people continue to subscribe, why worry about fixing whatÂ’s wrong, upgrading the equipment, or expanding capacity. Add in the pricing structure and people used to real internet service are in a vice.
The alternatives are not pretty, ADSL much more reliable, but at on 2 gig per month: useless, or cell modems with 45 hours per month, again, not much hope there.
We have checked into the satellite internet services, they do offer unlimited, lightening fast, reliable service for only 18,000 dinar per month.
So we love/hate our WiMax and wait for the day when it all gets resolved. It will get resolved, when it is meant to be. IBM
