Creative Writing/Poetry

aeklipsp

Just thought I'd like to start a discussion of expats who enjoy writing creatively, whether it's short stories, anecdotes, or poems. Feel free to add your own work or critique those whose work is already posted. I'll start us all off by pasting here what has been one of my most recent poems written in Istanbul, entitled "Alone with the Murder"

Alone with the Murder
Like a sailor hauling men overboard
on decks, he lowers the latch
on the door of his 8 x 24
cargo container for the final
shut-in. Deserting
her to that rich valley between his prison cell
walls. Alone
with the murder, the dog surveys
the herculean climb to the bottom of his
potential.  Heave,
the sickness ailing him is more than
merely viral, itÂ’s virtual; worse than the rhythmic pace of
time. Sequestered
inside the solitude of international shipping,
he denies the social squawk any shot
of simplifying his situation. The only crook
his love ever knew he wonÂ’t let
escape. Wrecking
logistics, he bears the incessant need to scrape
away from under his nails gathering
rust. A sea
of tacit whispers goads him on to forgetting that stomping ground
discovered. Rocking
back and forth, not a score of oars could steady his loneliness
now. Mechanic
ghosts left on the outskirts to illicit these thoughts
from a man who, on probabilities, never
burnt the midnight oil.

You can find this poem on my
and comment with more thoughts.

Thanks everyone,
Angelo Pisano

in times of sorrow,
in times of grief,
life is tested,
even your belief.

may ask for thousand wishes,
but three may even hard to wish,
without focus,
without aim,
life would simply be
a lame game.

Pretty face,
sweetest smile,
now only a memory
no one can reminisce.

reality is now,
when misery & sorrow succumb,
the once beautiful face
now filled with grimace,
the once innocent smile,
now clothed with indifference
and pain.

even a wish granted
cannot turn back time.

once a beautiful life,
now just a broken line.

I had memorised this one since I was a kid until now I still have in my mind. I guess I know the important of having friends and the best of days with them shall remain in me. To all my friends and bestfriends, your the treasures I would not share for I am greedy in love with you guys.

                What Is FRIENDSHIP?.....

It is sharing both big and little things,

Joy and sorrow, laughter and tears

It is counting on one place to another

To understand your moods, to put up with your failings

To be their when needed most with a word of Encouragement

A smile, A look...........

Creative writing and poetry have never been a really big problem for me since I've been an English teacher for many years. Something that has been a real challenge and that has given me the most satisfaction is being able to create some beautiful works of prose in the language of my host country, Brazilian Portuguese. Even if you don't understand the language I'm sure you will see why I am so proud of my accomplishment.
