Sound-Proofing in the City...With 'Magic Windows'

cccmedia

You wouldn't want to miss out on what a city has to offer because it's noisy.

Fortunately, where you may notice noise most -- when you're wanting to relax at home, or go to sleep -- there's a solution for most homes....

Sound-proofing, which in Ecuador often involves installing a second window in the bedroom and other areas.

Expat Liliya Bykova just had such windows installed in her Quito residential apartment and in her La Ronda rental property, and wishes she'd done so years ago.  She used a company called Ventanas Mágicas ("Magic Windows" ), telling the story at her current welcome page at ...

Before I moved into my Quito condo, I realized it was on a bus route where buses chug up an incline from early morning until around dusk.  I hired a Spanish-speaking handyman named Marcelo (business phone 09-9271 3181) and his assistant, who put in the two noise-blocking windows while I was still furnishing the place.

As a result, I hardly notice any outside noises except for the occasional El Centro fireworks or chiva party bus.  Dog barking is muted.  With the addition of earplugs for sleep, I don't hear any outdoor noise at all.

Prices are based on size of windows (typically matching what you already have in your home) and number of windows.  I paid about 40 percent less in Quito than for sound-proofing with two new triple-panes in Connecticut, USA, about ten years ago.

Are these windows available in other areas of Ecuador, such as Salinas?    Thank you.

Salinas is not far from Ecuador's largest city, Guayaquil, so your 'window consultant' can get whatever is needed in GYE if it's not readily available in Salinas.
