sasha567

I was married in Barranquilla in 2001 and we were divorced in May 2010 in North Carolina. I need assistance in getting my divorce notated in Colombia and finalized.  Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

I suggest you to take a look at the Bogota business directory.

Hope it helps,

Hopefully by now you will have found the answer to your query, but if not:

You do not have to register your Divorce in Colombia, the Divorce is recognised by the Colombian Authorities, if a copy is required for anything, you might have to get a Notarised translation, but nothing more.

Everyone says I do have to have my divorce recognized in Colombia. I plan to get married again by a Notory (civil wedding) and this has to be done.

Can I suggest that you contact the Notary you intend to use for your Wedding, and ask him what documents he requires, every Notary seems to have their own requirements, which can be confusing, and on the other hand can be very helpful, because some are very flexible.

When I married in Medellin, some Notaries refused to marry me to a Colombiana, but the one who did, only wanted a couple of documents, including an legalised copy of my Divorce Certificate with apostille stamp. I think you will find that as long as your Divorce Cert has the apostille stamp from the country issuing it, you will have no problem.
