Working in Chile for one year: taxes & RUT

Barb.V

Hi everyone,

I'm in the early stages of considering a move from Australia to Concepcion Chile, for one year to work as an English teacher, for a Chilean organisation.

I'm unable to find information on a couple of things so I'd appreciate any advice based on your experience!
Would I likely require a RUT number during my stay in Chile?
Will I be required to file taxes for Chile, in Chile? Is this dependant on salary earned?
If any Australian expats can shed some light on any tax obligations for Australia during their time in Chile that would be great ☺
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

Try contacting the Australian embassy Chile for the information.

All th research I've done says no tax filing required in Chile  for first three years. Which means no tax deductions or tax on aussie investments.
