Driving to San Miguel from Eagle Pass

macssfe

Looking for advice on where to sleep/stop.

It seems like it would be better to cross the border at Eagle Pass in the late afternoon and be ready to start the drive early the next day but I am not sure it is safe.

Has anyone slept in Peidras Negras? Hotel rec?

Thanks

I have. Last April, when l was considering PN as my new home l stayed several nights in a B B. It was the worst accommodations I have ever experienced. No hot water in the shower, the room looked nothing like the advertisement, and it was very difficult to access due to very steep stairs.

There was nothing unsafe about it, just very unpleasant. But PN is a small, quiet, safe town. The people there are very welcoming and warm, just like every place l have ever been in Mexico. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but I  will stay in a hotel next time.
