Thinking of moving to Mexico.

Guest678

Doing research on a possible permanent move to Mexico to retire.  Initially looking at Mazatlan as I don't want the humidity and wish to have a large ex pat community to link into for support. Looking to rent a 1 bedroom, wifi a must and air conditioning.  Would appreciate any assistance. Move dates October 2021.

Mazatlan has the humidity and as far as a large expat community, it is not as prevalent or evident in public. That being said, my girlfriend lives there and her place is right behind the Marina. I will ask her to check with her building as 70% of her bldg is vacant since it is predominantly a 2nd home to many. I think you're taking the right approach by renting.

Appreciate your follow up so much. :)  I am targeting October or November for 2 weeks to a month and then longer after that once I get my bearings.  How much a month for a fully furnished internet air conditioning and is it close to the beach on on the beach? I might down the road consider a permanent move. Thank you for your feed back onthe renting.  Is it safe there for a single? I have read that the "golden" are of Mazatlan is the larges ex pat community.

Hi Heather. Sent you a pm to you. I think I can help.

Hello Heather, Welcome.  I suggest you research the Lake Chapala / Ajijic area if you want to stay out of the humidity.  We have lived here 4 years.  Also there are some really good facebook groups that can answer your questions about the area.   Good luck with your planning and research.

The search function on this website is somewhat archaic, but a one or two word search from the Mexico forum page will pull up a number of previous posts that might be helpful for you.

For example, on the Mexico forum main page, I searched for "Lake Chapala" and got this result

Here is a search result for Mazatlan

I hope some of that is helpful

Hi Julie, If I am not mistaken, the elevation is quite high there although it looks beautiful.  The weather sounds more temperate and cooler as well. I really want to be by the ocean; life long dream to live by ocean.

I will be leaving for Mazatlan on the 19th this month to see my gf. She says it's ungodly hot and humid in Mazatlan right now so we will spend a week in Guadalajara where I will fly out of coming back. We were thinking of airbnb in chapala

Excuse my delay in getting back to you Kona.  Appreciate you connecting with me as a contact. I have heard that July and August are unbearable.

I have heard that in Mazatlan the humidity is a bit better in fall than PV.  I am thinking of Mazatlan has the spot for me.

Dave and I have chosen Mazatlan  and will be spending our first winter there this coming winter. We bought 3 condos 4 years ago. We love the city, the people, the food the weather. There are Americans and Canadians around but it’s easy to embrace the people from the city. We have friends there already just from our stays. Weather is great, even in summer. We just got back from a June trip. Weather hot but the ocean breeze is beautiful. And ocean is warm this time of year. Mazatlan is primarily a destination for Mexican citizens for long weekends and holiday trips. For a future permanent move start investigating how you do it. Visa process has multiple steps. English is spoken most everywhere. It’s a great place. You will love it. Shrimp capital of the world.

I love Huatulco Santa Cruz Crucecito because I like the calm water in the bays. There is an active expat community here. Safe for single woman like myself. Just checked temperature to compare Huatulco to Manzalan    Huatulco 91  61percent humidity wind 9 mph    Manzalan 88   70 percent humidity. wind 11 mph.
