Vaccines required in Canada

Diksha

Hello everybody,

When living or moving abroad, and in particular in Canada, vaccination against certain diseases is often required to enter the country or to avoid risks.

We would like to ask you a few questions to help future expats there.

What is your relationship to vaccines in general?

Did you get vaccinated before moving to Canada?
Were these vaccinations compulsory or recommended?

Did you refuse to get any vaccine that was recommended for Canada? If so, why?

If you are an expatriate in Canada, are you encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine? Do you have access to the vaccine and do you plan to get it?

Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?

Many thanks,

Diksha,

Hi
Came from France 18 years ago. At that time, no vaccine was required. Today with the pandemic, for sure Covid vaccine is needed.
Can’t help a lot sorry.
Best luck

Hi.  We just arrived in Ontario less than 2 weeks ago by car from the US.  No vaccines were required, although they did ask if we received the COVID vaccine.  It is not yet available for our age groups in CA, so we are unvaccinated as far as COVID.  All they cared about is that we followed the mandatory COVID screening for entering Canada and quarantine/follow up testing procedures.  Anyone entering Canada now should download the ArriveCAN app and follow the instructions for what is needed, as requirements changed as of 21Feb2021.

I am actually interested to know if an expat would be able to receive the vaccine in Ontario if and when it becomes available for our age group while we are here, as it turns out we are likely to be living here much longer than anticipated.  How do we register for that?  I don't mind paying.

Thanks,
Lisa
P.S. Our dog was required to have proof of up to date rabies shots, so it appears Canada is more concerned with pet vaccines than for people.
