Move and work as a doctor in Abu Dhabi

ajenghalida13

Assalamu’alaikum and hello,

My name is Halida. I’m a general practitioner (GP) from Indonesia with years of experience. I’m currently trying to prepare everything I need to move and work as a doctor in Abu Dhabi, in shaa Allah, because my future husband works there.

I understand that the process of getting licensed through HAAD/DoH is quite detailed and can take time. I would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences from other expat doctors who have gone through this process—especially from those who came from Southeast Asia or other non-Western countries.

Right now I am:

    •    Researching how to apply for DataFlow verification

    •    Planning to study for the HAAD exam

    •    Trying to understand what jobs are available for international doctors (especially GPs)

My questions:

    1.    How long did it take you to get licensed and start working in Abu Dhabi?

    2.    Are there hospitals or clinics that are more open to hiring doctors from Indonesia or similar regions?

    3.    Is it realistic to move and apply for jobs after getting the HAAD license, or do I need a job offer first?

    4.    What are the best resources to prepare for the HAAD exam?

I’d be so grateful if anyone could share your experience, advice, or even the challenges you faced—it will really help me mentally and practically prepare for this journey.

Terima kasih & jazakumullah khayr in advance ðŸ™

Halida 🌸
