Moving to Jeddah

aaguilarcsi

Hello Forum Members, greetings to everyone.

I would like to introduce myself as I am new in expat.com, my name is Alfredo, I am married with two children ( 5 and 8), currently living in Spain and originally from Venezuela, so Spanish is my mother tongue, and the reason i have joined is because currently I am discussing a job offer to work at Kaust ( not directly hired by kaust but in their offices) and almost sure we will need to move to jeddah for living.

So as all the new ones, I can imagine I going to ask the same questions,  How is living in jeddah with family? What are the best places for living as an expat? Are there any spanish community living in Jeddah (compound) . What about schools ? Costs of living in jeddah? Weather, max and min temperatures? and so on......Any information you could share will be very appreciated.

Best regards

I don’t know much about a Spanish community in Jeddah but I’m interested too. Colombian-American moving to Jeddah in August from Texas here. I also posted on the Spanish forum but it doesn’t look like there’s much activity there.

Ghassanahmad

Welcome to Saudi Arabia

Will, Jeddah is about 60-80 KM from KAUST depends if you are going to live in north or South of Jeddah

I have never been to KAUST, but as i heard it still virgin area and the infrastructure is perfect even though the style of living is very high standard (Inside KAUST)

The Spanish community is not that big. By the way, my boss is from Barcelona.

The best place to live is at any private compound such as Arabian homes, Shurbately Village, Hajareen compound ..... and so on  where you will find lot of western expats

International school like British School, French School and American School starting from mid US$ 7k to 17K

Temperature can reach to 55 degree C.

Good luck

Other then the other

I'd advice you to try to get a place to live in kaust. Ghassanahmad gav a elong list of the decent compound in Jeddah... But living inside KAUST still better option than that compound.

The best,

Hi
It would be hard for you living in Jeddah and working in KAUST. It's almost one hour drive. I suggest that you live in KAUST.
Living cost for one person around 500$ I give you an average. Renting prices is not higher thou.

I'm local so if you would like to know more please DM.

Agree. (the part you should consider kauat as place to live on)
