PAYG Mobile sim with 3G

Hello all,

I am due to arrive in Saudi in 2 weeks time from the UK and looking forward to arriving very much. I will be based in Jubail for work but living in Bahrain when my wife and daughter arrive in a couple of months.

I shall be bringing my UK ipad with me and hope to get a PAYG SIM card so that I can enable my 3G, the main reason for doing this not including sending and receiving emails is to keep in contact with family through Skype.

Whilst I am in the office, or home I won't need 3G as I will have wifi however whilst travelling I may want to take calls from them.聽 In the UK only 2 of the 5 phone companies allow Skype to be used upon there network.聽

I know you can use Skype in Saudi but:

Are there any restrictions in saudi re the above network issue?
What is the best provider?
Rough costs for say 1g per month?
How far across the bridge will saudi plan get me before I get charged a fortune going in Bahrain?
