Hi Sally, yes Beirut is a safe area. It kinda depends on what you like to do if it's worthwhile for you to visit. The food is amazing, some people enjoy shopping here but it's quite expensive. There is a lot of nightlife and if you enjoy walking in the city you'd enjoy the manara and biel. There are some more natural hiking areas outside the city. There's a lot to do, especially when it's warm enough to enjoy the beach.
